“Sean and I connected online through a dating app,” said Monique. “Initially, I was hesitant to meet him in person, but after a few months of messaging online every day, we decided to meet, and I am so thankful we did. One of our first dates was at Busch Gardens.”

Monique worked at Busch Gardens while in college, and ever since then, the couple has visited many theme parks throughout the country together. They’ve each finished college, started their careers and have gone on numerous adventures together.

Sean popped the question in December of 2021 while in their Cabana Bay hotel room overlooking the volcano at Volcano Bay. They waited to start planning the wedding, opting to purchase their first home together first. “Although we are Tampa natives, we knew Orlando was where we wanted to have our wedding, as it is our home away from home,” said Monique.

“We were looking for an intimate setting with the feel of a destination wedding—but without the travel—and Discovery Cove was the perfect fit.” The appeal, she added, is that the park provides a tropical escape filled with lush landscaping, vibrant colors and a picture-perfect lagoon backdrop. “Sean and I are both animal lovers and were especially excited about the dolphin experience, as well as the bird encounter and snorkeling,” said Monique.
