ETHOS VEGAN KITCHEN
A Winter Park mainstay since July 2012, Ethos Vegan Kitchen is a full-service vegan restaurant featuring hearty, homestyle fare on Fairbanks Avenue, right down the street from Park Avenue and Rollins College. Owned by Orlando residents Kelly and Laina Shockley, their goals are simple; to improve the diversity of vegan dishes in Central Florida, provide good food at a reasonable price, and “showcase the variety, freshness, and flavor of vegan dining.” Their Samson Burger is an excellent representation of all those goals. It features a generous, made-from-scratch black bean patty with lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, sprouts, spicy mustard, ketchup, and vegenaise, stacked between a sturdy kaiser roll. MASON JAR PROVISIONS
With the dissolvement of Big Time Street Food Kitchen, Thornton Park residents wondered if something just as good would come along. Then they were blessed with A.J. Haines and his new concept, Mason Jar Provisions. Their southern fare ranges from glazed bourbon pecans to hot chicken sandwiches to their 13 delectable smash burgers, all equally delicious. Each smash burger is cooked medium-well and served on the softest buttered brioche bun. Mason Jar offers a sumptuous meat-free burger; The Pretender, an opened-faced pan-fried falafel with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, BBQ sauce, and a Diaya Vegan cheese add-on, all piled high on Olde Hearth sourdough.
