Meet the Designer: Jamie Gernert, Founder, WYC Designs
Jamie Gernert turned her love for interiors and social media into a business known for its swoon-worthy designs. Gernert and her team helped the Miller family turn their house into a home—reflecting the family’s style and the needs of their growing family. “We knew we need to make it more them,” says Gernert. “Hence, #makeitmiller.”
The Miller Home
One of the biggest overall changes to the Miller home was to the kitchen. “We made the kitchen so much more functional, and to me that is one of the biggest reasons why anyone would purchase a home—it’s the heart!” says Gernert. “We added more pantry storage and took them to the ceiling. That alone increased the value of the home and our clients will absolutely get their investment out.”
“Our aesthetic is natural and warm,” says Gernert. “We added warmth with wood floors, beams and new stairs that really changed the whole look of the space.”
In any project, ideas present themselves along the way, and Gernert is particularly pleased with the following. “We added the beams and the vertical paneling as the process progressed, and I think it was such a great call! It adds dimension and a coziness to the space that is very wide open.” Additional enhancements to the home include new iron railing and new kitchen cabinets, countertops, lighting and hardware. The exterior garage doors and front door were also updated.
