Orlando magazine had the chance to speak with Adrian Sarple, director for the Disney on Broadway Concert Series, about what makes this year’s festival stand out.

A Celebration of Broadway’s 30th Anniversary

This year’s festival highlights the 30th Anniversary of Disney on Broadway, a tribute that promises to dazzle audiences with memorable songs and performances. According to Adrian, the festival’s finale will be an extraordinary celebration, raising the bar even higher after last year’s Aladdin-themed spectacle.

“For those who can’t make it to the final show, we have something exciting for the entire season. Patti Murin and John Riddle will perform throughout the festival,” Adrian shared. Both actors originated roles in Broadway’s Frozen: Murin as Anna and Riddle as Hans.

Broadway enthusiasts will also be thrilled to see the return of Kara Lindsay, known for her captivating performances on stage. Each artist brings their unique style, ensuring that no two performances are alike.

A Fresh Twist on Disney Favorites

The Disney on Broadway Concert Series is a perennial centerpiece of the festival. Adrian revealed how the team carefully selects the songs and performers. “We always ask the artists what they want to sing most and what they’d rather avoid. It’s about pushing boundaries while respecting the original material,” Adrian explained.

This year, the audience can expect surprises, including artists performing songs they wouldn’t typically be cast for—adding an element of playfulness and creativity to the shows. With a team led by Randy Mire from Disney Theatrical and Jim Abbott, the performances are crafted to showcase the artists’ versatility and range across genres.

Overcoming Challenges to Deliver Broadway Magic

Staging live Broadway-style performances in the unique setting of EPCOT comes with its challenges, particularly the unpredictable Florida weather. “The cold and wind near the lake can create a wind tunnel, especially at night,” Adrian noted. Despite this, the performers are well-prepared, ensuring each show is a flawless blend of talent and professionalism.

The 2025 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts aims to immerse guests in the essence of Broadway, leaving them inspired and moved. “What I hope guests take away is joy, entertainment and a connection to the songs. We try to pull in the essence of why the song is in the show and take the audience on a journey,” Adrian said.
